DUBAI: United Islamabad Lahore thrashed out Qalandar by five wickets in the last league match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. They will play the second final qualifier against Reyes Karachi on Saturday.
Earlier, Islamabad won the toss and elected to field. Put into bat, Lahore, which was a life-or-die match to reach the final four legs, lying on a total of 150 runs.
After a depressing sight for higher order Sohaib Maqsood and Umar Akmal they provided a much needed support in a 97-run partnership.
Maqsood had two 4s 6s and five on the 57 of 44 balls while Akmal hit three five 6s 4s for blisters 72 of 49 balls.
Islamabad Irfan was the most successful bowler who sent three back Qalandars, followed by Rumman who bagged a wicket.
Qalandars had a disastrous start as their top three batsmen fell within two scales and forcing Maqsood Akmal for damage control.
But, with excellent performance by Haddin (54), Khalid Latif (25) and Misbah-ul-Haq (38), Islamabad exceeded the target with an over yet to go.
