LOS ANGELES: Leonardo DiCaprio has taken a leap forward in search of his first Oscar, a Golden Globe win for his intense performance as a trapper of the 19th century in “The Revenant”.
All eyes are now on the Hollywood Oscar nominations, announced on Thursday to see if the scores of galaxies “Titanic” his fifth nomination paper acting as widely expected.
The 41-year-old DiCaprio won best actor in a drama at the Globes ceremony full of stars on Sunday also saw “The Revenant” won for best director and best motion picture drama.
Experts seem to agree that, while the race for the Academy Awards on February 28 remains open in most categories, including best film, DiCaprio search for an Oscar that has eluded him so far appears in path.
“I think DiCaprio seems a breeze,” said Scott Feinberg, awards columnist for trade magazine The Hollywood Reporter.
