NAB authorizes inquiry against high profile corrupts

ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) decided to authorize the investigation against the former Minister of Population, Sindh Syed Ali Mardan Shah and others for alleged embezzlement of public funds.

They were also alleged in the invasion and the construction of shops in government property and the accumulation of huge assets through illegal means.

The meeting of the Executive Board (MBE) of NAB, held under the chairmanship of Chairman NAB, Qamar Zaman Chaudhry here, took decisions regarding filing a corruption reference, the authorization of the inquiries and investigations, verification Complaint and Voluntary Return (VR).

The EBM decided to file a corruption reference against Moeen Aftab Sheikh, Ex-Chairman Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM), Karachi, which is alleged to declare the loss of misuse of authority. A loss of Rs. 378196000 was caused to the national treasury.

The Executive Council decided to authorize seven questions and was first authorized against Syed Ali Mardan Shah, former Minister of Population Sindh and others, while the second inquiry was authorized against Shahid Hussain Jatoi, former Administrator Member of the Federal Board of Revenue ( FBR) and others.

In this case, the defendant alleges misuse of authority through corruption and corrupt practices, illegal gratification against promotions and appointments and accumulation of assets beyond known sources of income.
